Recovering from Childhood

A blog by Jakob Giron

“Recovering from Childhood” is a safe and comforting space for those who faced trauma, abuse, neglect, or suffering during their childhoods. I talk about my personal story of survival and document my journey of healing. My belief is that there is no bigger indicator of how easy or hard life will be for you than the way you were raised and what resources you had access to as a child. For those of us who didn’t have our needs met as kids, figuring out how to be an adult can feel like starting from scratch. I sometimes ask myself, “is there anything I learned as a child that I can rely on today?” I don’t claim to have the answers to questions like these, but I face them with courage and self-compassion. In my posts, my goal is always to offer empathy and insight to other people who share my pain, while also showing kindness for myself as I heal from a past that no child deserves
